| My first experience with Coleman lanterns was in the Boy Scouts. I was in a Troop in S. Fla. when I was a kid (around the time that dirt was invented, I was on the design team). Our Troop had 1 (one) 200A lantern and I was the "Lantern Bearer" |

I guess a prelude to Lord of the Rings..... Anyway, about thirty years later a bright red 200A lantern caught my eye like that one did when I was a Scout and my collection was off and running. Soon my (now) X-wife was complaining, "I can't go anywhere in this whole house without seeing those Damn Lanterns. What are you going to do about it !" It took me a couple of years to make up my mind, but she got served and I got custody of the lanterns. As the story goes... I lived happily ever after! |

My new Main Squeeze even helps me dust them and goes on scouting trips to the Park N Swap and fleamarkets with me. I don't know if I have a direction to my collecting, I see it, I like it, I buy it is pretty much how it goes. The two "Candy Lanterns," below, were made by two of my students, Natalie and Sarah who know my affinity for Coleman and Candy. Thanks for a Great web-site and my regards to all! Jan Werner |
