Mad Monte here!!! I first remember Coleman lanterns as a kid here in Washington State on family campouts and later as a teen on Hunting trips. My parents had a 1961 little red Coleman 200A and a small 2 burner stove. We all camped out in a Octagon Korean War Army tent and that "Hiss" of the little 200A brings back many happy memories.
I now have around 15 or so older Coleman lanterns and enjoy tinkering and lighting them often. ( We lose power here outside of Olympia 3 or 4 times a year which is fine by me!!!!) My favorite lantern is a mint 1957 Coleman 202 a good friend traded me for a 1976 228 I had.

I also have several 242's around and a fun little Model 200 Jan. 1951. ( Yes, I am a sucker for anything Nickel Plated and single mantle) Also also have a few older doubles as well. ( A 1921 327 , a March 1926 427 and a 1939 228B. Some tablelamp quicklights and a even a few " Newbie" lanterns from the 80's fill my " Wall of Flame".

Hobbies??? I still rathole a month a year to do a few Backpacking trips, Long Distance kayaking and climbing. (I also collect older single burner stoves, mostly Swedish and a few Coleman) Any way, I find out there are other folks out here as crazy as I am about these old lanterns and I sure enjoy the info shared here!!! Thanks for this great web site.. Mad Monte ****
